Aici sèn pla

This blog started as a daily record to mark our fifth year at Segala. Daily it did not turn out to be but after the year I have decided to continue as an occasional diary - after all I do still like it here or "aici sen pla".

Its our fifth year living at Segala. I have decided to try to mark this year with a daily post ( some days it will be just a photo) of our life over the year. I have trawled my brain for witty titles without success then I remembered the slogan on the T shirts at the fête in Espinas in the summer.

A friend translated it from the occitan for us. It seems to mean something along the lines of I like it here. Very apt for us, "I like it here " is a refrain we use to each other at least daily so that's the plan - Aici sén pla - a year of daily musings from a contented retired expat who thinks herself damned lucky every single day.

what again?

Yet again no need to cook this evening as we are still full from yet another lovely lunch with friends - this time Edwidge and Alain at Moliere.

Edwidge and Alaine could easily have been our neighbours as when househunting the house across the field from theirs was on our final shortlist. We met them by chance later on and now Trevor often accompanies them when they sing and practices always mean lunch of course - we are in France after all!

The weather for the last few days has been really summery even though the days are short and start misty and end up a bit chilly ( as in you might just need a cardigan when you get back late).

Also yet again, and this not good, for the second Saturday in a row we are having to miss out on a bal as my knee is complaining about how hard it has worked already this week. I've decided I might have to get drastic and not dance at all this week to give it a chance to recover but that is a big ask ! Luckily we have found somewhere else to go tonight as Libertalia a band billed as a "pirate band" which claims to be "folkceltique" is playing in Najac - I put money on "the leaving of Liverpool" being on the menu!

Libertalia

Later that evening ......

The band were actually very good indeed. Slightly bonkers but all great musicians and good to listen too - unfortunately this evening also good to dance to - I really enjoyed the polka but knee - herinafter known as "gnu" didn't
