Aici sèn pla

This blog started as a daily record to mark our fifth year at Segala. Daily it did not turn out to be but after the year I have decided to continue as an occasional diary - after all I do still like it here or "aici sen pla".

Its our fifth year living at Segala. I have decided to try to mark this year with a daily post ( some days it will be just a photo) of our life over the year. I have trawled my brain for witty titles without success then I remembered the slogan on the T shirts at the fête in Espinas in the summer.

A friend translated it from the occitan for us. It seems to mean something along the lines of I like it here. Very apt for us, "I like it here " is a refrain we use to each other at least daily so that's the plan - Aici sén pla - a year of daily musings from a contented retired expat who thinks herself damned lucky every single day.

Lac de Bannac

I took Gnu dancing again last night and it didn't complain so today we thought we'd try a short walk, Well more of a stroll really, Trevor doesn't call anything a walk unless it's at the very minimum 6 kms preferably with at least 500m of climbing.

The walk around the Lac de Bannac is pretty flat and only a couple of miles so it was a good test for Gnu. and it was lovely to get out for a walk even if it was just a short one.

Lac de Bannac is a real gem, very beautiful, very quiet, especially out of season, and this morning it was at its best. There were loads of birds to watch, lots of Autumn colour in the trees reflected in blue water under a clear blue sky and no-one else around except a couple of fishermen.

And Gnu ? No ill effects again thank goodness and we had the afternoon to make progress with the Autumn gardening. We've got to make the most of the good weather as the forecast is for it to break this week and bring some rain - it will be the first for weeks.
