Aici sèn pla

This blog started as a daily record to mark our fifth year at Segala. Daily it did not turn out to be but after the year I have decided to continue as an occasional diary - after all I do still like it here or "aici sen pla".

Its our fifth year living at Segala. I have decided to try to mark this year with a daily post ( some days it will be just a photo) of our life over the year. I have trawled my brain for witty titles without success then I remembered the slogan on the T shirts at the fête in Espinas in the summer.

A friend translated it from the occitan for us. It seems to mean something along the lines of I like it here. Very apt for us, "I like it here " is a refrain we use to each other at least daily so that's the plan - Aici sén pla - a year of daily musings from a contented retired expat who thinks herself damned lucky every single day.

summer is back

My tomato plants really needed some attention
Lovely day today - temperatures high 20s, very slight breeze, pool water temperature back to 26 - we have worked in the garden, got too hot, swum, sat about, had a lovely meal with a nice bottle of wine, enjoyed a nightcap under the stars and now going to bed in a cool(ish) bedroom. Just about perfect.

The sun came back after a couple of days rest whilst my brother and his partner were here - pity as they never got to use the pool but they are now soaking up the sun on the Med so it's not too tragic.

This week we were so lucky that the best evening weather happened on Thursday, the night that Folk'n'jazz was arranged in the Jardins de Quercy. It was a lovely evening - clear skies and a full moon, in a beautiful setting. The evening before and especially the one after were not conducive to enjoying an evening of music al fresco but all was well and folk'n'jazz had a record attendance of 110  raising £500 euros for toutes à l'ècole.
