Aici sèn pla

This blog started as a daily record to mark our fifth year at Segala. Daily it did not turn out to be but after the year I have decided to continue as an occasional diary - after all I do still like it here or "aici sen pla".

Its our fifth year living at Segala. I have decided to try to mark this year with a daily post ( some days it will be just a photo) of our life over the year. I have trawled my brain for witty titles without success then I remembered the slogan on the T shirts at the fête in Espinas in the summer.

A friend translated it from the occitan for us. It seems to mean something along the lines of I like it here. Very apt for us, "I like it here " is a refrain we use to each other at least daily so that's the plan - Aici sén pla - a year of daily musings from a contented retired expat who thinks herself damned lucky every single day.

so you think you can sew

Finding time to write a blog every day is not going to become any easier now the weather is improving so much. Certainly there's lots to write about but I'm too busy doing it , that always has been my problem with diary writing.

Anyway I'll just have to carry on trying.

Yesterday I was kept away from the garden all day as I went on a machine quilting course. I am trying to get to grips with doing that squiggly all over quilting they make look so easy on videos. It did get better as the day went on - now I need to practice, practice,
practice

Today it was back to the garden. The greenhouse is bursting at the seams but the nights are still too cold to put any of the plants outside. During the day though it has been like summer - I even had to stop for a while this afternoon as it got too hot to be working. The sunshades are up and cushions out of storage so this afternoon saw the first sitting in the sun reading of the year - very welcome!
